| Edge Hill’s commercial
training division Enterprises recently signed a contract potentially
worth £400,000 with Southport and Ormskirk NHS Trust to deliver
a range of non-clinical training and development programmes for
staff at Southport and Ormskirk Hospitals.
The project, initially a one year rolling programme, is expected
to cover a three year period and will involve the secondment of
key NHS staff involved in training delivery, under the direct management
of the Edge Hill Enterprises team. This means that courses and awards
undertaken by hospital staff will not only be mapped to the new
Knowledge and Skills Framework, part of the Agenda for Change, but
will also earn recognised accreditation awards delivered by experts
in their field.
Philip Hogan, Business and Commercial Services Division Manager
at Enterprises is optimistic about the future of the project:
“This is a major contract for Enterprises and I think the
first of its kind in the UK. I hope it will also be the first of
many partnership projects with NHS Trusts.”
From NVQs through to Diplomas in Management up to MSc programmes,
the training options available will provide an escalator system
ranging through five different levels.
Southport and Ormskirk Hospital Trust’s Deputy Chief Executive
Philip Orme can see major benefits ahead:
“The arrangement means that staff can access a wide range
of training programmes in accessible learning centres, delivered
by a higher education institution that has an excellent track record.”
