Fitness Classes

A range of fitness classes are offered at Sporting Edge, most of which take place in the Dance Studio of the Wilson Centre adjacent to the Sporting Edge main reception. Classes range from relaxing, stretching yoga to high impact, intense aerobics sessions.

Classes are reasonably priced at £3.80 per session for Community users and £2.80 for Staff / Students and Juniors. (Except for Pilates classes which are £4.70 for everyone)

  • All classes are free to Premier Members
  • All class instructors are fully qualified and experienced
  • For Health & Safety reasons there are minimum ages for all classes as follows:
  • 16 years+ for Yoga, Pilates, Combat Fit, Abs Express, Core Stability, Boot Camp, Friday Circuits
  • 14 years+ for Aero Tone, Monday Circuits, Legs Bums & Tums, Step Aerobics, Wednesday Zumba, Total Tone
  • 12 years+ for Friday Zumba
  • proof of age may be required

5.30pm – 6.30pm Running Club Improve and enjoy your running to achieve your fitness goals with these instructor led sessions. Suitable for all ( age 14 and over )
5.30pm – 6.30pm New Class
Zumba Ditch the workout and join the party with Rebecca for this Latin American dance based aerobic class. Suitable for all ( age 14 and over )
6.30pm – 7.30pm Aero Tone Aimed to give your body all over conditioning with a mix of aerobics and toning with Clare. Suitable for all ( age 14 and over )
7.00pm – 8.00pm Mix ‘n’ Match Circuits All round cross training for all over fitness with Sam ( Sports Hall ). Advanced level ( age 14 and over )
7.45pm – 8.30pm

Tuesday
1.10pm – 1.50pm Zumba Ditch the workout and join the party with this Latin American dance based aerobic class at lunchtime. Suitable for all ( age 14 and over )
5.15pm – 6.00pm

6.15pm – 7.15pm New Time Legs Bums & Tums Join Lorraine and target those specific areas to tone and trim.  Suitable for all ( age 14 and over )
7.15pm – 8.15pm New Time Step Aerobics Lorraine’s step aerobics for that all over CV and toning effect* Pre-booking is essential as maximum numbers apply. Suitable for all ( age 14 and over )
Wednesday 8.00am – 9.00am Gentle Aerobics: Low impact aerobics. Fun fitness and great company with Andrea. Suitable for all ( especially over 50′s and those on Exercise referral Scheme )
1.10pm – 1.50pm

Abs Express. A 40 minute non-impact circuit based class aimed at strengthening and toning your midriff and back with Rob. Suitable for all ( age 16 and over )
6.00pm – 7.00pm Boot Camp: Get fit outdoors. Military style boot camp workout with Matt.  Meet in reception area. An hour of outdoor drills and skills to improve your all round fitness. Suitable for all ( age 16 and over )
6.30pm – 7.30pm Yoga: Hatha Yoga with Craig designed to relax and de-stress your body. Suitable for all ( age 16 and over )
7.30pm – 8.30pmand  8.30 – 9.30pm Zumba Ditch the workout and join the party with Charlene for this Latin American dance based aerobic class.* Pre-booking is essential as maximum numbers apply.  Suitable for all ( age 14 and over )
Thursday 1.10pm – 1.50pm

Core Stability: A 40 minute express class with Rob aimed at improving posture and core stability. Suitable for all ( age 16 and over )
5.15pm – 6.00pm

5.15pm – 6.15pm Change of Day Running Club Improve and enjoy your running to achieve your fitness goals with these instructor led sessions. Suitable for all ( age 14 and over )
6.15pm – 7.15pm

Total Tone: Aimed to give your body all over conditioning with Rob. Suitable for all ( age 14 and over )
7.15pm – 8.15pm Pilates. Join Debbie to improve posture, lengthen your body and tone the midriff. Suitable for all ( age 16 and over )
Friday 8.00am – 9.00am

Staff/Student/Jnr: £2.80 per class Community: £3.80 per class
  • Pilates classes are priced at £4.70 per session for all
  • Mondays circuit class takes place in the Sports Hall
  • Fridays circuit takes place in the New Gymnasium.
  • All other classes take place in the Dance Studio
