Master of Public Administration (MPA)
The MPA is designed to provide advanced study and skills in the development of public policy and the administration of public services in a cross cultural context.
The course provides an opportunity to explore issues of governance, policy and management in the development and provision of public services. It recognises the growing importance of partnership with the private sector and non-governmental organisations and provides an interdisciplinary approach to understanding different patterns of provision. The course encourages an international perspective and draws on examples from a number of countries.
This course will appeal to individuals who wish to gain an awareness and understanding of the major elements of the body of knowledge relating to public administration, public management and public policy. Students will be able to comprehend and utilise a range of ideas, concepts and theories in public management and public administration, and relate them to the practice of public policy and management.
Above all, this MPA will provide the practical skills to support effective practice in public administration. Assessment is carried out through a number of critical essays, reviews, group reports and a final dissertation.
