Courses
The Centre offers a growing teaching portfolio, including two MA awards, an MPA programme and a range of professional development initiatives.
The Masters in Public Administration (MPA) has been developed in partnership with the Centre for International Education and offers a cross-faculty framework. The MPA provides an overview of public administration, public policy and evidence-based management that enables specialism in the public sector and an ability to deal with the major challenges therein.
The MA in Voluntary and Third Sector Management has been designed in close collaboration with voluntary sector partners. It provides opportunities for managers to engage with high level management skills and to develop a reflective view of the role of the sector in a time of change.
If you're a public sector professional, or working in a large voluntary or private sector organisation, the MA in Equality and Diversity Management could be for you. This programme addresses the theory and practice of equality and diversity management, developing your capacity to view these themes critically in an interdisciplinary environment.
The MA Youth and Community Work is offered in collaboration with the Department of Social and Psychological Sciences. The programme is an opportunity to gain experience and understanding of youth and community work as a professional practitioner through a combination of work placements and the exploration of theoretical perspectives.
The Centre for Local Policy Studies also runs courses for organisations and individuals as part of its consultancy activity, having developed the basis for a wider role in Continuing Professional Development. These courses are tailor made packages that focus on the Centre's work in relation to education, training and workforce development.
All of our courses are very flexible and provide a range of options for postgraduates, managers and professionals to take a postgraduate or further qualification.
