What is the Job Club?

The Job Club is a free service, provided by the Careers Centre, which aims to help you find part-time, temporary and vacation work.

The Job Club advertises a wide range of different vacancies throughout the year, including bar & restaurant work, care work, IT, mentoring & tutoring, office work & retail.

If you are an employer and wish to advertise a vacancy to our students please see our Information for Employers section or contact us on 01695 584322 or email jobclub@edgehill.ac.uk

How does the Job Club work?

All our vacancies for part-time and vacation jobs are advertised via the Online Vacancy Service pages of our website.

The first time you use the system you will be asked to complete a few registration details and to make up a username and password - this does not have to be the same username and password that you use to log into the University network.

This will only take a few minutes and we are sure you will find our new system easy to use and on subsequent visits to the Vacancy pages you will just have to input your username and password and you will be able to view the vacancies.

All our vacancies are advertised and regularly updated on the website.  It is essentially up to you to look and apply for work that interests you.

Once registered, you can apply for any of the vacancies and if you see any jobs that interest you just follow the contact/application instructions.

If you need any assistance please do not hesitate to call in and speak to Katharine McKinnon in the Careers Centre.

We recommend that you are fully aware of the conditions within our Job Club Code of Practice for Students when registering for the Job Club.

Disclaimer

Vacancies are received from a variety of sources, sometimes direct from employers or alternatively from internet searches, newspaper advertisements, agencies and Job Centre Plus. This information is received in good faith and we try to ensure that information displayed in vacancies advertised by the Job Club is true and correct at the time of advertising and is as accurate as possible. Please ensure that vacancy information is correct before accepting an offer of employment.

The Job Club does not promote vacancies that are commission-only and all the jobs advertised pay at least the national minimum wage.

Comments

In a recent survey students said:

"I have found the Job Club very useful within my first year at University"

"I feel the current Job Club is effective, I particularly like the e-mails telling me of new jobs"

Suggestions

Some students suggested that the Job Club should be advertised better.

Direct access to the Job Club web pages is now availlable from the Student Go-portal, on Blackboard and information about Job Club events is on Facebook. Employer recruitment fairs are also advertised on the plasma screens around campus.

Another student thought that the Job Club should give a presentation during Freshers Week to increase awareness of its services. The Job Club have now been invited to join the Finance Team during their Money Doctors Talk to new Faculty of Health and Social Care students in April and will also be delivering a presentation to new students in September.

If you have any comments or suggestions on how to improve the service the Job Club provides please e-mail: jobclub@edgehill.ac.uk
