Widening participation
Edge Hill University has an established reputation for widening participation. It is committed to extending opportunity to all those with the potential to benefit and to achieving a better understanding of the impact of disadvantage, deprivation and cultural and physical diversity on recruitment to higher education.
The Widening Participation Research Centre, directed by Professor Liz Thomas, is dedicated to undertaking research and related activity to support the development of learning opportunities for individuals and groups currently under-represented in postcompulsory education and training.
Edge Hill is home to Action on Access, the national co-ordination team for widening participation.
