Employability statement

The Edge Hill University experience is designed to prepare all students for their future careers. We have an excellent track record in graduate employment: latest figures1 show Edge Hill as top in the North West for the third year running2 and in the top four of English Universities3. Over 95% of our students are in employment or further study six months after graduating4.  Major employers are involved in the design of our degrees, and over 75% of our programmes carry additional professional accreditation.

During your degree you will develop both intellectually and personally, gain confidence and acquire the skills employers are looking for. In addition, depending on your choice of degree, your programme can include:

  • Work placements
  • Careers modules
  • A sandwich year working in industry
  • Live projects with real-world clients
  • Visiting lectures by major employers and real-world practitioners – recent examples have included the Director of BBC in the North and recent graduate entrepreneurs who have  started their own companies
  • Qualifications required to enter careers such as education, health and law
  • Personal development modules, including portfolios of achievement that will help you get jobs
  • Enterprise modules, in which you will work in small groups and establish, organise and run your own small business venture.

Our award-winning Careers Centre can help you from the moment you start your degree with friendly, impartial and confidential guidance.

Support continues after you graduate, with continued access to the Careers Centre, and special employer events such as workshops to help you hone your CV and interview skills, networking events run in conjunction with professional bodies, and a lively Alumni Network.
